Version: Firmware V 1.51 (English, German, Italian, French)
Checksum: 0x8B4AH

***************************************************************************

! You risk loss of data by updating your firmware !

Please read the notes below about how to properly back up your data.

***************************************************************************

Changes in 1.51:

* Siemens C45/S45/ME45 added to Phone Selection (supporting same functionality as the 35 models)

* Siemens S40 can be used with Setting "Generic Mobile" (Phone Selection)

* Add 'Create Category' in category select screen of the download phonebook function

* Change birthday schedule generated from address time field, the default time range 8:00-8:00, not a previous whole day schedule (0:00-23:59)

* Fix bug: Display error in Weekly View

Known Issues:

* After updating the firmware the year is set to 2000 instead of 2001

* S40 does not support all AT commands, so most of the ATCMD based functions, like read SMSC, E-Mail, Phone Manager, are not available

* Already stored birthday data is still displayed in the conventional method, the new time range only applies to newly entered data on IC35 (work-around: reset device, clear all data, and synchronize with your PC again)

To avoid loss of data IC35 Sync software version 1.51 may only be used with IC35 firmware version 1.38 or higher.

---

To update the firmware of your IC35 from version 1.11, 1.12, 1.28 or 1.38 to version 1.45 please read the following information carefully:

Step 1:
Please backup your device with the IC35 Manager currently installed on your PC. Choose a directory outside of the IC35 Manager and IC35 Sync program directory. In addition, you can backup your data on IC35 itself with the help of a writeable MultiMediaCard. To do so, start the File Manager on your device and go into the "IC35" folder. Next, press the MENU and cursor keys to select the Application "Backup to MMCard".

Step 2:
If you are using a PIM program such as Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Organizer to synchronize data with your IC35, you may want to do so now (especially if any record changes have occured since you have last synchronized). Again, use the currently installed or old version of IC35 Sync.

Step 3:
Uninstall the old versions of IC35 Sync and IC35 Manager on your PC.

Step 4:
Install the new version of IC35 Sync and IC35 Manager.

Step 5:
Start IC35 Manager and establish a connection between your PC and IC35. Now you can transfer the new version of the IC35 firmware. This file must be on your local drive, not on a CD or network drive.

Step 6:
After the firmware update please reset the IC35 (lid open, switched on) and select "clear all data."

Step 7:
Now you can synchronize your device again with the new version of IC35 Sync and Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Organizer. If you want to restore a backup file you can do so with IC35 Manager. A conversion utility will automatically start if you select "Restore" in the dropdown menu "IC35Data." If you have created the backup file with your IC35 running with firmware 1.12 you now have to convert it to 1.28 / 1.38. If the backup file was created with your IC35 running with firmware 1.11 your first have to convert from 1.11 to 1.12, then from 1.12 to version 1.28 / 1.38 / 1.45.

IC35 issues known with Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Organizer:

1) General

IC35 can handle category-names up to eight characters length. Entries filed with longer category names in Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Organizer, are synchronized to the IC35 'Unfiled'-category. The category-reference is not being changed by sychronizing.

Categories can be used on IC35 within the following applications: Addresses, To Do List and Note Pad. Only one category per record is possible.

Sync-performance is higher with Microsoft Outlook than Lotus Organizer.

Fieldmapping can be used for synchronizing Addresses and Schedule. Be aware that if fieldmapping is changed between two syncs, there will be a duplication of records - the duplicated records have to be deleted manually.

2) Addresses, length of fields

First Name: 50
Last Name: 50
Company: 128
Home Tel: 48
Office Tel: 48
Mobile: 48
E-mail1: 80
E-mail2: 80
URL: 128
Street: 128
City: 60
County: 40
ZIP code: 10
Country: 15
Notes: 255
Def.: 128 each

Longer records in Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Organizer are synchronized up to the maximum length IC35 can handle. Data is not being lost in Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Organizer due to this limitation of length.

3) Schedule

You cannot delete a single record on IC35 out of a series of reoccuring events - the whole series gets deleted. IC35 can not recognize if a single record of a series is deleted or modified in Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Organizer.

It is not possible to create a repetive record series on IC35 that consists of irregular happening events, e.g. 'every Monday and Wednesday'.

4) Note Pad, length of fields

Subject: 60
Notes: 255

Notes, generated in Microsoft Outlook, are being synchronized to IC35 Note Pad to both fields: Subject contains the note until the CR/LineBreak, Notes the rest of it.

Longer entries are only synchronized up to the max. field length IC35 can handle. No data is lost in Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Organizer, though.

5) To Do List

It is mandatory to set start- and due date on IC35, while being optional in Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Organizer. If a task without start-/due date is being synchronized to IC35 it is being set to 1/1/2000 as start date and 12/21/2031 as due date.

The maximum field length for Subject is 60, for Notes 255 characters.

Longer entries are only synchronized up to the max. field length IC35 can handle. No data is lost in Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Organizer, though.

Messaging / Phone Setup

Under certain circumstances, sending E-mail with a mobile phone connected via cable may lead to a reset of IC35.
