K1 USB download troubleshooting (for iBootCore version 1.3) -revised 2003-03-17

- My mobile does not show the statusbars on the display, as mentioned in "How to USB SW update K1":
Your mobile is probably not updated with the newest version of IBootCore (version 1.3). Follow the instructions for updating the IbootCore in "How to USB SW update K1".

- When I open iBootHost the first time, it says there is a file it cannot find:
1) To make IBOOT host work you must register IIP_ActiveX.ocx in the registry using "regsvr32 <drive>:\path\to\IIP_ActiveX.ocx" from a command line, eg. in Windows Commander.
2) For some reason your PC might miss some files, which are normally part of a standard Windows 2000 installation. Try to look into the directory "additional_files" in this package and see if the needed files are there. The files Comdlg32.ocx and Tabctl32.ocx should should normally be present in the C:\WINNT\system32 directory.

- When I switch on the target the first time after putting in iBootCore
with CodeComposer/Lauterbach nothing happens:
You must hold the navikey depressed while switching on power. If this
key is not depressed, the software will halt the boot to enable modem
SWUP possibility. You will see the display backlight switch on if
iBootCore is successfully booted. Try a few times if the light
doesn't switch on.

- I can't connect to the target from iBootHost:
1) Do you have the right modem software? At the moment this must be
from the aen9new network and built after putcount 2151 - the official Cannes
modem software will also be just fine. Other modem software may garble
USB transmissions. Please note that the previous version of iBoot will
prevent any communication with the modem so you may have to take the
phone apart and seperate the MMI board from the modem to make sure
that the modem SW is the correct version.
2) Have you installed the Innovator driver in Windows? Windows should
prompt for a device driver the first time the target (which must be running
iBootCore) is connected.
3) Did you remember to have the USB cable inserted and connected to a
powered PC while powering-on the target?

- My transfer is finished and now Keylight & Backlight are flashing:
This signal means fatal error. Most likely you are trying to download
an image not containing the neccesary iBoot modifications. Switch
off power and build an image with the right modifications.

- My transfer is finished and nothing happens:
Try hitting "Load" once more. When you see the keylight switching on
the actual flashing starts - if it doesn't you can always transfer again.

- My transfer finishes very quickly and the mobile display & backlight
  is flashing.
Did you remember to power-on with the USB cable inserted and connected
to a running PC? The modem will garble USB transmissions if the cable
is not inserted at power-on. This causes the iBootCore to think
transmission is finished and it starts flashing. As no data is
present in the target, the flashing fails before actually doing anything.

- My transfer suddenly stops and iBootHost reports an error.
Did you remeber to power-on with the USB cable inserted and connected
to a running PC? The modem will garble USB transmissions if the cable
is not inserted at power-on.

- Iboot host doesn't start transfer - program seems frozen:
Disconnect power from the target, exit iBootHost, restart target &
iBootHost. Remember to have the USB cable plugged in and connected to
a powered PC at target power-on.
